SYNOPSIS
W of W is a piece of video, influenced by a selection of texts by William Shakespeare. W of W takes place in an office at the time of our recent global financial crisis, though its fashion is more of a throwback to 1960’s America – the golden age of Advertising, thereby establishing a clash between these two historic moments in Capitalism.
In Gertrude’s conversation with Laertes about Ofelia’s death, Shakespeare explores masculinity and femininity within a male system. How do we mould our identity to service the hazardous longing to be capable of anything, that one might endure, resist and exercise authority? This is a world in which survival is the challenge.
A video piece stemming from theatrical conception and using the coexistence of different dramatic languages ─ text, movement and audiovisual ─ seeking both form and content to be synchronically and dialectically complementary, strengthening and expanding each other.
