World of Wolves
World of Wolves is a video art inspired by the themes that Shakespeare explores in Hamlet, specifically in the disclosure of Ofelia’s death by Gertrude to Laertes. Action is recontextualized in 1960´s America, the golden age of advertising, as well as in the aftermath of the financial crisis of 2008, drawing the coexistence between the two periods. It is a piece that focuses on women who find themselves entrenched in patriarchal systems; Ophelia’s death coming to represent more broadly, the death of the feminine within capitalist society.
