Black Tie
A text based interdisciplinary piece which exists at the intersection of dialogue, movement and live music. Through pictorial symbolism it explores familial relationships defined by obsession, discontent, and sexual abuse. The dredging up of childhood trauma during a funeral service father provokes a debate about what constitutes normative behaviour and what should not be tolerated. An exploration of how we must confront our inherited legacy as a means of survival, both personally and collectively as a society.

As a voice coach I had the pleasure of working on Nuria’s Black Tie production, I will never forget the first run-through. What I witnessed was moving, imaginative and full of poetry. An expression of relationships and emotion balancing finely between the naturalistic and the abstract. Nuria is a true artist, her passion and dedication is unstoppable and contagious – I really hope I get the chance to work with her again.
